Roofing Company Woodford

Woodford is a quiet town ringed by national park and reserve, its cottages and family homes sitting under heavy canopy. That setting puts most of the suburb on bush fire prone land, so roofing work has to satisfy AS 3959 at the assessed attack level. The decisive risk is ember entry through a gap, and the roof holds most of the gaps.

Ridge and hip lines, valleys, eaves, vents, skylights and gutters are where embers gather, and the standard targets each in turn. We work throughout the mountains and build every Woodford roof to the BAL its assessment specifies.

Roofing Services We Offer

Roof Repairs

In Woodford the recurring repair is a valley rusted through beneath seasons of bark, with cracked capping and wind-lifted tiles close behind. Separately, a once-compliant roof can lose its sealing where a penetration was cut and not made good. We stop the water and, on mapped land, rebuild the ember protection.

Roof Replacement

Re-roofing in Woodford is set by the BAL: BAL-29 means non-combustible covering, sarking and all gaps over 2 mm sealed; BAL-40 means fire-rated sarking, sub-2 mm metal mesh and rated penetrations; BAL-FZ means tested systems only. We work out which, then quote and install to it, disposal included.

Roof Maintenance

The canopy over Woodford fills gutters and valleys with dry leaf fast, and ember mesh with a loaded gutter behind it is fuel on the roofline. Maintenance is a bushfire task here: we clear the drainage, check mesh and sealing, and repoint capping before the season turns.

New Roof Projects

Rebuilds, extensions and studios in Woodford get their bushfire detailing from the frame, because sarking, sealing, penetrations and gutter mesh do not retrofit convincingly. We work with your builder and the bushfire report so the roof passes inspection first time.

Roof Inspection & Reports

A Woodford report covers condition and compliance separately: tile, sheeting, valley and capping life, then sarking, sealing, vent and penetration protection and mesh against the BAL. Photographs, ratings, and a clear list of what to do before fire season.

Gutters & Downpipes

The gutter is the most important bushfire component on a Woodford roof and the most overlooked. AS 3959 calls for non-combustible metal mesh, sub-2 mm at higher levels, not plastic. We fit compliant mesh, renew rusted gutters and downpipes, correct falls and make access easy so the system stays clear.

Benefits of Hiring a Professional Roofing Contractor

Expert Workmanship

Bushfire-compliant roofing is detail work. A 3 mm gap at a ridge, a plastic vent cowl, an unrated skylight or mesh of the wrong aperture each undo an otherwise compliant Woodford roof. We install to what AS 3959 requires at each level and can explain which requirement drove which line in the quote.

Safety First

Steep bush blocks, long driveways, sloping sites and brittle older tile make Woodford roofs demanding to work on safely. Access is assessed before we quote, and every job runs with edge protection and anchor points for the pitch. Our crew is working-at-heights certified and fully insured.

Access to Quality Materials

Compliant bushfire roofing needs specific products. For Woodford we source AS 3959 non-combustible metal gutter and valley mesh, sarking with the required flammability index, fire-rated sealants, rated penetration and skylight systems, and the full Colorbond range, so compliance is straightforward rather than a string of substitutions.

Time & Cost Efficiency

The cheapest Woodford roofing decision is keeping the gutters clear; the most expensive is a non-compliant detail nobody noticed. Plastic guard is cheaper than metal mesh until the moment it matters, and deferred valley replacement costs several times a clean-out. We tell you plainly what is compliance, what is maintenance, and what can wait.

How We Help

Residential Roofing

Canopy-shaded cottages and family homes across Woodford. Tile repairs, rebedding and repointing, valley renewal, re-roofs in tile or Colorbond, gutter replacement, and bushfire roof-and-gutter systems to the assessed BAL. Written scope and fixed pricing first.

Commercial Roofing

Schools, halls, shops and small industrial buildings around Woodford. We schedule around occupancy, manage access on open sites, and on mapped land specify roofing and gutter protection to the attack level, with staged pricing and committee documentation.

Storm Damage Roof Repair

Woodford storms bring down branches and limbs, and a limb through tile opens a house quickly. We repair storm, tree and leak damage, complete the permanent fix, reinstate disturbed bushfire detailing, and photograph it for your insurer.

Types of Roofing We Work With

Tile Roofing

Tile is common on older Woodford homes and, non-combustible, counts for it here. The weak spots are the ridge, valley and eave gaps where embers enter once bedding goes or sarking is absent. We repoint with flexible compound, replace tiles from matched stock, renew valley irons and seal the junctions.

Metal Roofing

Colorbond is the straightforward pick on a bushfire-prone Woodford block: non-combustible, near-gapless, and clean to pair with sarking, sealed penetrations and metal mesh. Lighter than tile for re-roofing, and better at shedding canopy litter.

Flat & Low-Slope Roofing

Flat and low-slope roofs on Woodford extensions, carports and studios trap litter under canopy, a drainage and ember problem on mapped land. We install membrane or low-pitch metal with genuine falls and accessible outlets and seal upstands and penetrations to the bushfire assessment.

I have had a fantastic experience with this business from start to finish. They are professional experienced, very fair and reasonable. We needed to replace the roof on our outdoor deck which was slightly tricky. Their advice and suggestions regarding product to use was sage. After a downpour there was a bit of a leak between the main building and the deck roof which they came out to fix which resolved the issue. There have been plenty of downpours since and everything is fine. I would highly recommend this company without hesitation. They are excellent.

Thankyou to TomKat Roofing and particulary Scott who did an excellent job repairing my roof. I had a water stain on the ceiling in one of my rooms, I called TomKat Roofing. They sent out a technician (Tim I think his name was) to have a look at the roof and that was followed by a very clear & comprehensive quote with what work needed to be done. The quote was supported by photos of the roof showing the problem areas. Tim was very polite & knowledgeable. He explained to me what needed to be done as a matter of urgency and what would need to be done for maintenance purpose and he showed me the photos. The price was very reasonable for the work that needed to be done. Scott carried out the repair work. Scott is very pleasant to deal and he knew exactly what he was doing. He worked just about all day to finish the job for me and I was very happy with the results and my roof problems have now been solved. I was very impressed with everyone I dealt with, from the ladies in the office who prepared my quote to Scott who completed the job , they are all very friendly and most of all they know their stuff. I think they're an asset to TomKat. I highly recommend TomKat Roofing and I would definitely use them again.

I contacted the team at TomKat roofing as I noticed a small leak in my daughters room during the recent storms and I was pleasantly greeted over the phone by the admin team who took down all my details and soon after I had the scheduling team call and arrange a suitable time to come out and review my concerns. The team promptly identified what the issue was and fixed it promptly. I can’t thank the team enough and whilst I hope I never need to call them again due to a roof issue, I would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for professional workmanship.

I highly recommend Tomkat Roofing for an efficient, well priced and solid quality roof replacement. My old, droopy and leaking terracotta tile roof is now straight and strong with a reinforced structure, new corrugated colorbond roof, gutters, facias, downpipes and leaf guard. Some of the key positive experiences I had with Tomkat Roofing are: The efficient and friendly office staff always responded quickly and kept me informed of the progress and when the tradesmen would be onsite. At the start of the job, within a single work day, they had a team of roofers and carpenters to get the old tiles off, the roof structure repaired/reinforced and the colorbond sheets with insulation secured so that my home was protected from the weather. Fortunately the weather was clear for a few days, but it was reassuring to know that they were prepared to work incredibly fast in the summer sun to keep my home safe. The site supervisors were always friendly and took the time to explain everything to me and respond to any concerns or questions I had about the job. Being an older build home, I had a few items that needed particular attention and everything was completed to my satisfaction. A word of advice for home owners looking to get a roof replaced with Tomkat Roofing: Raise as many of your objectives and concerns as you can as early as possible. I found the Tomkat team very responsive to my overthinking mind and everything I wanted to get done was outlined in the quote and addressed during the job. Also, they do tidy up and take away all the waste building material during and at the end of the job, which is great. But be prepared each evening to clean up smaller items that take time to find, like random screws or nails that were dropped, if you have children or pets accessing the area around your home in the evenings. It is unreasonable to expect the workers to find every dropped item each day if you also want the job done quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I know if my roof needs repairs or a full replacement?

Signs like leaks, sagging, missing tiles, or water stains often indicate the need for repair. However, if your roof is over 20 years old or has widespread damage, a full replacement may be more cost-effective.

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured, giving you confidence that all work is carried out to Australian standards and safety regulations. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality roofing services.

The timeline depends on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and the materials used. Most residential roof replacements take between 2 to 5 days. We’ll provide a clear timeline before the work begins.

Absolutely. We stand by the quality of our materials and workmanship. All our roofing work comes with a workmanship guarantee, and we use materials that are backed by manufacturer warranties.
